According to the Content Marketing Institute, 89% of B2B marketers are using content marketing. In this age of digital marketing, content marketing is crucial.

No matter what type of business you run, you can use content marketing to your advantage.
Several businesses have achieved massive success with content marketing. So can you!
In this article, we will give you five content marketing tips to prepare you for your content marketing journey.
1. Start a Company Blog
The first thing you should start together with your business is a blog.
You can’t always post about your business, but you can always find exciting ideas for content around your business.
That is why it’s essential to create a business blog and do it early.
Having a blog means you can generate a constant stream of content around your product or service.
However, merely having a blog is not enough. You need to update your blog regularly.
“Blog early, blog often.”
According to HubSpot: “Companies that published 16+ blog posts per month got almost 3.5X more traffic than companies that published between 0 – 4 monthly posts.”
2. Use The Right Tools
We all know the importance of content marketing tools. So, one of the essential content marketing tips we could give you is to invest in these tools.
Having the right marketing tools will allow you to streamline your processes and increase your productivity.
However, using the wrong ones, or in some cases having too many tools, can be counterproductive.
This is a problem with many new entrepreneurs and marketers. They often jump on every tool they come across today, thinking it’ll skyrocket their growth.
“Ultimately it’s not about the number of tools but rather the selection of the right tools suited for your agency.”
– Mattan Danino
In reality, having a few tools that you know how to use is best. Not only will it make you more productive, but it’ll also save you money because most tools aren’t free.
Here are a few of our favorites:
- KWFinder – Keyword research (Free and Paid Plans available)
- INK – content writing, editing, and optimization (Free)
- Google Analytics – data monitoring, gathering, and other metrics (Free Standard Version)
- Pixabay – stock photos (Free)
- Canva – infographics and web banners (Free and Paid Plans available)
3. Create High-Quality Content
Millions of blog posts are published daily. You need to make sure your content stands out. The way to do this is by focusing on quality rather than quantity.
“Do not write content just for sake of writing,” – Anastasia Sidko
You must always provide value to your audience.
Employ storytelling techniques in crafting your content. It’s a very effective way to capture and maintain the interest of your readers.
Additionally, prioritize long-form content. According to SerpIQ, content with 2000 words or more usually gets ranked higher by search engines than short-form content.

A higher ranking will drive more traffic to your content and also improve your domain authority.
4. Build Relationships with Influencers
Influencer marketing is one of the new content marketing trends.
Influencers are people whose opinions are highly valued in a particular niche. They usually have huge followings. A post from them about a product or service quickly generates a buzz.
Depending on how powerful they are, they can easily make or break a company with just one post on social media or a mention in an interview.
You will want these people on your side.
A few tips on how to build relationships with influencers:
- Quote them in your content and reach out to them for comment afterward.
- Interview them for a blog post.
- Attend their conferences and speak to them in person.
- Offer your paid service free to them in exchange for feedback.
- Engage with their content on social media.
5. Guest Post
Guest blogging or posting simply means publishing content on a website other than your own. This allows you to tap into a much wider audience.
When Buffer started, their founder Leo Widrich turned to guest blogging after a series of failed attempts to land PR coverage.
He wrote over 150 posts for different websites.
Through this, Buffer was able to grow from 0 – 100,000 users in just ten months!
Popular marketer Neil Patel employs this tactic too. Neil writes for Entrepreneur, Forbes, Inc, and many more.
These tips should start you off on your content marketing journey. But, we encourage you to read the article below for more suggestions and marketing knowledge.

Hi Chris,
Nice pointers on Content marketing. I would also like to add a couple more,
1) Along with updating and posting content regularly, it should be regularly shared on social media to increase engagement.
2) You should also post on other relevant sites and create links to your site from them. These are known as backlinks and good backlinks can help improve the visibility of your website and blogs.
