A new dating site called Donald Daters has reportedly leaked the data of its users a few hours after being launched.

“Make America Date Again” is the tagline of the Donald Daters app which is designed explicitly for the supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump. However, the app not only received nationwide media attention for its launch yesterday but also for leaking the account information of its users.

The dating app, which is available for download on both Apple and Android devices, was reportedly created to help Trump supporters meet potential dating partners without any liberal backlash. This after a 2016 survey released by the popular dating app Tinder revealed that over 70 percent of online daters believe that political differences are dealbreakers.

“For many young Trump supporters, liberal intolerance has made meeting and dating nearly impossible. Support for the president has become a dealbreaker instead of an icebreaker. That’s why we created a new platform for Trump supporters to meet people without being afraid of talking politics,” Emily Moreno, CEO of Donald Daters, said in a statement.

Like other world-renowned dating apps today, the Donald Daters app allows users to view potential matches based on their preferences. It also enables mutual matches to communicate with each other through chat. The mobile app is available to everyone, but users have the option to block possible trolls.

Everything seemed to be running smoothly until independent security researcher Baptise Roberts exposed that the app unintentionally revealed user information in an open database.

According to an interview with Motherboard, the database includes the names, profile photos, and what appears to be tokens for logging into people’s accounts and private messages.

The data, which was accessible from a public Firebase repository hard coded into the app, was pulled offline shortly after reports of data leakage surfaced online. Moreno or anyone from Donald Daters has not issued any statement yet regarding the privacy breach.

Have you ever used a dating application before? If so, have you ever experienced difficulties finding matches because of political views?
