Google Partners is a marketing program for advertising firms or other third parties that manage Google Ads account for brands or businesses.
Upon signing up for Partners, users would have access to a host of benefits. These include training, special events, and industry research, among others.
Now, Google is introducing new changes to the program.
On Thursday, many Google advertisers received an email, which suggests that a new Google Partners Program is launching this year. As a result, further requirements can now affect your Partner standing.
In a blog post announcement, the tech giant wrote:
“We’re excited to announce the launch of a new Google Partners program in mid-2020. You can look forward to a new badge, new status, and updated product capabilities categories, as well as improved program benefits to better support the business needs of our Partners and their customers.”
To maintain or achieve their Google Partner status, agencies have to meet a new set of requirements starting in June 2020.
Here’s the breakdown.
New Requirements for the Google Partners Program
Optimization Score Evaluations
Performance is now based on whether a Manager account is in line with all of Google’s optimization score recommendations.
Google will start evaluating accounts on the Recommendation tabs to determine whether agencies are meeting the performance requirements. And the search engine giant suggests reviewing the recommendations to see how to improve your performance.
Double the Spend Threshold
Google has increased the minimum 90 days ad spend from $10,000 to $20,000.
The increased spend threshold affects all the clients under your manager account. Expectedly, it could significantly impact a consultant’s ability to qualify for the partner status.
More Users to Need to Get Certified
At least 50 percent of users must have an up-to-date Google Ads certification in Search, Video, Display, and Shopping.
Having a single user with Google Ads certification will no longer cut it. Based on the new requirements, at least half of the users with admin or standard access to their manager account must pass the relevant certification tests.
Meeting the new Google Partners Requirement
According to the tech company, only agencies that meet the new set of requirements will have access to the new features.
These include new partner badges, new status, and updated product capabilities categories. There’s also an improved program benefit for qualified Partners.
