9to5Google reported that Google developers had something new planned for Chrome. Specifically, developers added support for Nintendo Switch controllers. This won’t just be support for the Switch Pro controller either. It includes full Joy-Con support — as a pair and individually.

Of course, this won’t be implemented until at least Chrome 75 or later.

However, you can most likely bet that the announcement from Google today will include information about this soon-to-be-added feature.

Google Gets Into Gaming This Afternoon

You can watch the Gaming Announcement above starting at 10 AM PDT/12 PM CDT/1 PM EDT.

Many game companies turn to the Google Cloud Platform for infrastructure and server needs. However, this conference directly involves Google-specific projects including Project Stream. An initial technical test in 2018 allowed you to play Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey in-browser.

But, as early as February of 2018, rumors of Google “Yeti” surfaced.

Project Stream became more notable when Google posted a blog detailing what the vision moving forward would be. As showcased by Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, Chrome would deliver graphically-rich content with near-instant controller and graphics interaction.

In order to maintain speedy interactions, the games run on servers in nearby data centers.

We will be updating this article with more information as the announcements unfold.

Stay tuned!

I don’t spend 60 hours a week on a game but I really like games. 😀 There are plenty of amazing looking games this year. Definitely, I feel left behind 🙁
