The holidays come early for fans eager to test the Xbox One‘s VR capabilities, as Microsoft has announced that their Live Streaming to the Oculus Rift will go online December 12th, 2016. According to an announcement by Xbox’s Senior Director of Global Marketing, Kevin Unangst, on November 22, 2016, the goal of this pairing between Oculus and Xbox is “to get you the most out of your gaming experiences by providing the choice to play how you want, where you want and with whomever you want.”

Xbox One Live Streaming VR

Xbox makes it sound easy enough. You’ll need an Xbox One system, the Oculus Rift VR headset, Windows 10 PC, and a download of the Oculus Rift app which enables live streaming. The best part is that Xbox One live streaming to the Rift will be free, according to Xbox.

“WHAT’S MORE, YOUR GAMER TAG CAN BE INSCRIBED RIGHT ONTO THE CONTROLLER, SO NO MORE ARGUING OVER WHOSE YOU ARE PLAYING WITH.”

When the Oculus Rift was first released, fans lamented a lack of buzzworthy games available to the VR system. Now hit games such as Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3Halo 5: Guardians and many backward compatible Xbox 360 games will be available to VR streaming through the Rift.

An Added Bonus

Who doesn’t enjoy an extra prize? In the spirit of the holidays, Xbox is giving away one free gamer-designed wireless controller with purchase of the Oculus Rift. The new wireless controller will aid in a seamless transition between gameplay on your Windows 10 PC and the Xbox One. According to Xbox Wire, the wireless controller has plug and play capability with compatible PCs.

Windows 10 is optimized to deliver excellent gaming performance with the Rift. The wireless controller has been fitted with a D-pad for greater responsiveness. If you choose to purchase extra controllers, the Xbox Design Lab even offers aesthetic personalization, choosing from a plethora of color combinations. What’s more, your gamer tag can be inscribed right onto the controller, so no more arguing over whose you are playing with.

Welcome to the VR Club

VR and Microsoft enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the experience both via PC and Xbox One, drawing from a massive gaming library. With that, updated wireless controllers and the Oculus Rift, gamers will become masters of the VR experience.
