Disney and Lenovo released Star Wars: Jedi Challenges, an AR setup that allows you to have a lightsaber duel.

From IRL Street Fighter to painting the environment, augmented reality can do so much now. So it is no surprise that AR enables IRL lightsaber fights, too.

May the 4th is Star Wars Day, so why not hop on the Disney Star Wars AR Headset train?

Lenovo partnered with Disney to create these AR headsets and lightsaber controllers. No for real — they look and feel like actual lightsaber handles.

You can even choose between a blue or green tipped lightsaber. Unfortunately, there is no word yet on a sweet, Darth Maul inspired dual-tipped lightsaber controller.

The Star Wars Jedi Challenges phone app requires more than one AR headset in order to do battle. Phone-to-headset multiplayer support is not present yet.

This comes after the immense popularity of AR game Pokémon: GO. As such, Forbes’ contributor Charlie Fink dubbed this the introduction of “Consumer AR“.

But if consumer AR means I get to challenge the Praetorian Guard in my living room, I think I’m willing to go with the flow.

There’s Also a ‘Solo’ Campaign

Tested, one of Adam Savage’s YouTube series, tested the product back in November 2017. It looks super fun and it costs around $200 USD. It does require a smartphone but works on both iOS and Android devices.

The optical system uses mirrors to project the image in your environment.

You can play through a solo campaign or an RTS mode where you can manipulate various units on a field.

Who would you most want to challenge in a Star Wars lightsaber battle?
