KFC rewarded the guy who cracked their Twitter joke with an amazing portrait.

KFC is one of the world’s leaders in the fast food industry. In this festive season, it is famous for its popularity in Japan where millions of families queue up to buy some festive fried chicken from their restaurants. The chain has become so popular during this time period that some restaurants have reservations weeks in advance. KFC is a chain with some interesting strengths and developments, with one of the most noticeable being its prolific Twitter page.

A quick look at KFC’s Twitter page will show you the fast food chain follows 11 people. At first, it seems random (at least that’s what we thought).

It took a curious Twitter user Mike Edgette a few weeks ago to notice what was going on behind the 11 followers.

What he discovered was quite astonishing. KFC followed all the members of the spice girls thus 5 “Spices” and 6 guys all with first names “Herb“.

Considering that KFC’s original recipe is believed to made up of 11 herbs and spices, this was very interesting.

Edgette quickly shared his discovery in a tweet.

“.@KFC follows 11 people.

Those 11 people? 5 Spice Girls and 6 guys named Herb.

11 Herbs & Spices. I need time to process this.”

The tweet went viral in no time and sparked some interesting responses from the Twitter community.

Apparently, this wasn’t random. It was all planned.

Freddie Powell, creative director at Wieden+Kennedy, the creative company for KFC confirmed this.

“We planted this on Twitter over a month ago,” he said.

“Frankly, we weren’t sure if anybody was going to find it. Sometimes you just have to put stuff out into the universe and cross your fingers that the internet will work its magic.”

For his awesome discovery, KFC rewarded Edgette with an oil portrait of him riding piggyback on Colonel Sanders through what appears to be a mountainous woodland.

He tweeted out several shots of the painting with this caption:

“Dreams DO come true. #GiddyUpColonel

Thanks @kfc”
