Adobe just announced their new VR data visualization platform Project New View

Leveraging the power of a neural network is not new in the tech world. But Adobe wants to merge the power of AI with VR for added data accessibility and visibility.

In fact, their blog features many recent posts about the power of AI, VR, and AR.

What does the mogul known for editing software have planned for Project New View?

A 3D Virtual Representation of Data

One of the biggest issues involved in data interpretation is visualizing data. Sometimes, grasping the true meaning behind all the numbers can be frustrating.

What’s more, many marketers spend around 10% of their budget on metrics or analytics. Despite this heavy investment, they only leverage 1 – 3% of the data they retrieve. But it is exactly this issue that sparked Adobe’s idea for Project New View.

You can see an example of the platform in the image above with Kanika in London and Max in Basel. They have digital avatars that exist in a 3D space. This way multiple users can work on or visualize data in a collective virtual space.

That makes this a 3D representation of digital, virtual data and it works with Adobe Sensei and other facets of the Adobe Experience Cloud, as well.

So when you ask Adobe Sensei a question, it can answer you in a totally immersive environment in real time. Adobe representatives say the technology is still in its early days.

It requires an Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, or similar headset to use like other Adobe products with VR applications.

Other Future Goals for Adobe Products

Project New View is not the only thing Adobe debuted at its London summit recently.

Adobe also revealed Project Dali’s latest iteration which aims to let people paint in three dimensions. This sounds kind of like the AR app Artopia that released earlier this year.

But Adobe CTO Abhay Parasnis attributes Adobe’s continued success to shifting with technology. He told Axios that the tech market is not exactly “forgiving” if you aren’t focused on future tech.

According to Parasnis, part of this forward-thinking initiative includes three key tenets:

  • Programs to facilitate 3D VR representations of professional illustration.
  • Photo and video editing task dictation.
  • Using neural networks to leverage large image libraries better.

We will see how Adobe transforms these ideas into action as the year progresses.

What could you do with 3D representations of digital data and metrics?
