As you’ve probably heard, on Monday, Tesla confirmed that it would temporarily be shutting down the production of its Model 3 electric vehicle. Nevertheless, Elon Musk has been cruising around in a Model 3 and posting music videos on Twitter. Check it out.
This is the second time that the company will be halting its Model 3 production after a week-long shutdown back in February of this year.
“Our Model 3 production plan includes periods of planned downtime in both Fremont and Gigafactory 1. These periods are used to improve automation and systematically address bottlenecks in order to increase production rates. This is not unusual and is, in fact, common in production ramps like this,” Tesla said in a statement last February.
Since Model 3 production began last year, Tesla has remained a few months behind its target schedule. Even with advanced robots and equipment in its factory, the company just can’t keep up.

In an interview with CBS News, Tesla CEO Elon Musk was quoted as saying:
“We got complacent about some of the things that we felt were our core technology . . . We put too much new technology into the Model 3 all at once. This — this should have been staged.”
Musk also admitted that they had some issues with the robots they use to manufacture the cars.
“Yes, they did . . .We had this crazy, complex network of conveyor belts . . . And it was not working, so we got rid of that whole thing,” the CEO said when asked by CBS’s Gayle King if the robots slowed down their production.
In a tweet on Friday, Musk said:
Despite the apparent setbacks that Tesla is facing now, the tech billionaire remains cool about everything. In fact, he’s even had the time to drive around his Model 3 car while playing some of his favorite songs, and tweeting them.
It’s definitely one heck of a rollercoaster ride now for Musk. With the Model 3 production delay, SpaceX rocket launches, Mars colonization plan, and doing film cameo roles in between, we’re hoping that he won’t end up like Howard Hughes in the long run.
