Some of the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturers will convene in Barcelona Spain from February 25th to 28th for the highly anticipated Mobile World Congress 2019.

The event is still two weeks away, but smartphone enthusiasts are already excited about the updates and latest phone technologies scheduled for the conference.

From rumors of foldable phones to news of 5G connectivity, everyone just can’t wait to see what the leading phone makers have in store for us this year.

If you’re one of these tech-savvy individuals,  here are some of the things that you can expect from five of the world’s top smartphone makers.

1. Samsung

On February 20th, Samsung will host its Unpacked event where the company plans to reveal its newest flagship smartphone. The South Korea-based phone manufacturer may not host any more press conferences during MWC but they most likely will show off some of their newest innovations.

Many anticipate the launch of the three phone models within the Galaxy S range. The latest models are reportedly equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor while a rumored fourth phone, Galaxy S10 X, is already 5G-equipped.

There’s also the updated “sports” version of the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Watch called Galaxy Watch Active, the Galaxy Buds, the Samsung A-series mid-range smartphones, and the heavily leaked Samsung foldable phone.

2. Google

While Google has traditionally avoided making big reveals at MWC, the company might make an exception this year. According to rumors and leaks, the Silicon-based tech giant might showcase a mid-range version of its Pixel 3 smartphone at the Mobile World Congress 2019. The new model will reportedly be called Pixel 3 Lite or Pixel 3a.

3. Huawei

Huawei is continuously taking the smartphone market by storm. The Chinese consumer electronics company already confirmed that it will be demonstrating the capabilities of its newest foldable, 5G-enabled device. It is said to be equipped with the company’s Kirin 980 chipset coupled with the latest Balong 5000 5G modem.

Unfortunately, the device is not expected to be released in the United States after the company got involved with several issues trying to enter the U.S. market last year. Others also speculate that the P30 and P30 pro mobile handsets might also be launched during the Mobile World Congress 2019.

4. LG

Aside from Huawei, LG  also confirmed the launch of its first 5G smartphone at MWC. Called V50 ThinQ, the new device will allegedly be equipped with a Snapdragon 855 chipset, a larger vapor cooling chamber, and a 4,000mAh battery pack. The South Korean company is also anticipated to release its LG G8 which would boast of a front-facing 3D ToF camera.

5. Asus

The Taiwanese mobile manufacturer has been off the radar these past months. However, several leaks revealed that Asus is set to launch its new flagship smartphone, Zenfone 6 during MWC. Nothing much has been said about this new phone, so it’s something to look forward to at the event.
