April Elon Musk News: SpaceX, The Boring Company, and IRL Legos

This April edition of Elon Musk news includes updates on SpaceX space harpoons, The Boring Company flamethrowers, and even one of his favorite recent music videos.

By now, Elon Musk’s name is widely known due to Tesla, among other things. He has expanded into ideas for mass transit, AI, and even flamethrowers.

In other Elon Musk news, SpaceX continues to prove itself. The company launched 10 satellites on March 30th. Today it will launch a mission to resupply the ISS. One of the things going to the ISS: a space harpoon. That’s two launches on reused rockets in 4 days. Very clearly, Musk’s businesses are setting the tone for the rest of the tech world.

Elon Musk News: Boring Company Flamethrowers

Okay, so, it is a flamethrower, but you also have the option to buy an expensive fire extinguisher with it.

Sold by The Boring Company, one of Musk’s endeavors, these flamethrowers are certainly eye-catching, but they’re not the main attraction. The real Elon Musk news here revolves around what The Boring Company actually does: transportation.

More specifically, the future of transportation, including mass transit.

As CNET recounts, Musk first gave us the Hyperloop via an open white paper. How these systems are designed and implemented, Musk left to the imagination of others.

However, Musk still wanted to defeat traffic. To this end, Musk created The Boring Company while envisioning a series of tunnels to bypass traffic. At first, we thought this tunnel would be built simply to house the Hyperloop train technology. Yet, this vision has changed to include cars, pedestrians, cyclists, and buses.

In fact, The Boring Company has a high-speed electric bus in mind and it looks pretty cool.

But this isn’t the only Elon Musk news making waves lately.

SpaceX Continues to Showcase Rocket Power

On March 30th, 2018 a used Falcon 9 rocket carried ten Iridium NEXT satellites into orbit.

Due to restrictions from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the live stream was cut short. Believe us when we say all ten satellites deployed safely.

While the landing didn’t quite go as planned thanks to parafoil twisting, the mission was an overall success. Although this is (another) groundbreaking development, it’s not the latest Elon Musk news that has me the most excited.

No AI Needed for The Boring Company’s Next Move

Elon Musk has a complicated relationship with the practical application of AI. But his other endeavors fuse practicality and future tech. So, it’s no surprise that The Boring Company has a new trick up its sleeve.

According to Musk’s Twitter, the next big thing is life-size building blocks. Think of it like Legos for real-life buildings and structures. He claims that they can tolerate high levels of seismic loads, but not be too heavy.
