The newly opened Niagara SpeedwayNorth America’s largest elevated go-kart racetrack — is bringing Nintendo’s Super Mario Kart to life.

Whether a fan of the new games or the classic SNES version, Super Mario Kart rocks.

Unlike its peer, Mario Party, Mario Kart will only upset your friendships instead of outright destroying them. You also get to customize your cars, wheels, and parachutes in the Nintendo Switch game.

But now, you can go to a real-life go-kart racetrack to experience some IRL Mario Kart.

The Largest Elevated Go-Kart Track in North America

This isn’t just any average go-kart track. With enough ramps and spinning towers to make your head melt, it’s a track that will bring out the inner child of every driver.

Situated on Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Niagara Speedway features a multi-level track. It accommodates up to 36 J&J F-22 Doubles go-karts going up to 15 mph. The go-karts also pack a heavy punch with nine horsepower Honda engines.

According to their official press release, the track requires 4,450 tons of concrete and 600,000 lbs. of steel. It also has more than 19,000 individual welds and 10,000 bolts.

The president of the building company, Harry Oakes, elaborated on what Niagara Speedway is:

“To sum it up in a few words, it’s like go-karts on steroids. You drive on a road course for a portion of the race and then spiral up … to about 40 feet, and then come down a long hill … kind of like the way a wooden coaster would be.”

Niagara Speedway serves as part of a 10-acre redevelopment project after the Comfort Inn Clifton Hill’s demolition. The project includes a renovated Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum and a revamped Kelsey’s Restaurant.

It is open RIGHT NOW and only costs $12 per 5-minute race. Go out there and get your Luigi Death Stare on everyone.

If you, like me, live a long distance from Ontario, you can also just live vicariously through our mustached, plumbing, dinosaur fighting brothers.

Which Super Mario Kart track would you like to see made into a real-life go-kart track?
